Do You Worry Colleges Or Employers Might Read Your Social Media Posts Someday

Yes, I do worry about it sometimes, but I think it is also a good thing. It reminds me that social media is not really private. Even if a post feels casual in the moment, it can last a long time and it can get shared.

For me, the bigger question is what kind of story my social media tells about me. If someone scrolls through my posts, do they see someone who is respectful, consistent, and serious about their goals. Or do they see someone who posts random stuff with no direction. I do not think I have to be perfect, but I do want to be intentional.

This makes me think before I post. I try to avoid posting when I am angry. I try to avoid posting things that would be embarrassing later. I also try to post things that show my interests and my work. In a way, social media can act like a portfolio. If I treat it that way, it can help me instead of hurting me.
